In 2010, right at the tail end of the global financial crisis, Gareth Dobson founded Finsol. Very quickly, he realised the same issues were coming up again and again, and noticed that not enough advisers were in their clients’ corner.
Not one to shy away from a challenge, Gareth felt it was time to even up the playing field. Finsol has been built on a solid foundation of doing what’s best for the client.
Fast-forward to 2020, Finsol is a digitally-led, innovative, and award-winning group of insurance and home loan advisers helping people all over New Zealand.
We financially empower our clients so they can prosper and live life on their terms.
Our team are educated, experienced, and empathetic. We’re not salespeople; we’re advisers, and our process reflects that.
Financial advice should go beyond the basics – we’re here to educate and inspire, leaving you feeling confident and fully informed.
If you need us, we pride ourselves on an almost immediate response to you, whether policy, advice, or claim-related. Our door is always open.

After completing a Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management from Victoria University in Melbourne, I went on to work in the health and fitness industry, starting in gyms, and then running the New Zealand Institute of Sport’s marketing team progressing to gym franchising. After deciding to move home to Hawkes Bay to be closer to my family, I looked into new career avenues and started my insurance career.
I’m an insurance adviser specialising in life, income protection, trauma, and health insurance at Finsol. I absolutely love working with clients and getting to know them to tailor the best insurance solution for their needs. When listening to my clients, it’s amazing what I can learn to help tailor their policies. Ultimately, I want to make sure they are covered where it really matters to them.
Outside of work, I live rurally with my husband and our Vizsla Poppy. I absolutely love running the river trails with Poppy and keeping fit and active. I have a passion for the snow, both skiing and snowboarding. Another love is the beach; we try to get out there as much as possible. In the past year, I have been learning how to surf – slowly as it’s a lot harder than it looks!

Before starting Finsol in 2010, I was a qualified supply electrician and worked in Australia and all over New Zealand. My trade background has helped me to understand the needs of my clients, many of whom are self-employed tradespeople. I’ve obtained the Level 5 Financial Advice, Residential Lending, and Life Insurance Certificates
At Finsol, I’m a senior insurance adviser that specialises in life, income protection, trauma, and health insurance and ACC advice for business owners. I’m also one of the company directors. Over the years I’ve obtained numerous industry awards including Asteron Excelsior Adviser in 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019 and NZFSG Insurance Business of the Year 2016 and 2018, and NZFSG Insurance Adviser of the Year 2018.
I’ve made it my mission to better look after the financial needs of Kiwis and to ensure their insurance covers were future-proofed and ready for any claims – which has resulted in 100% of our claims being paid since we started trading. I’m extremely proud of what we all stand for here at Finsol – our client-first approach is evident in everything we do.
I believe a healthy mind starts with a healthy body, so I’m a regular at the local Napier gym. I’m also a nature and ocean
lover and surf whenever my busy schedule and the east coast swells allow me to. I’m lucky enough to live out on the rugged Waimarama coast with my beautiful family.

Before commencing my career in financial services in New Zealand, I completed a Bachelor of Science in the United Kingdom and worked as a risk and liability consultant in the engineering and environmental space for eight years.
I’m a senior life insurance adviser at Finsol. My wife and quite a few members of my extended family are doctors, so I’ve been surrounded by medicine for a decade and have a strong knowledge of the medical profession. My risk management experience, coupled with my understanding of the medical sphere gives me the ability to provide appropriate, balanced insurance advice.
My young family and I lead an active, healthy lifestyle – I love to surf and be outdoors, and much of my free time is spent maintaining our lifestyle block (complete with animals). I’m also getting into photography.

I’m originally from Lyon in France, and I moved to New Zealand five years ago. I have a Master’s Degree in International Finance and have worked in various countries worldwide in Sales, Business Development and Event management.
In 2020 I decided to change careers and become a financial advisor, specialising in personal and business insurance. At Finsol, I’m an Insurance Specialist helping clients with Personal and Business insurances and ACC advice.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me hiking and tramping around New Zealand. I’m a real nature-lover. I also like meeting new people, so I regularly attend local networking and community events around Auckland.
I like adventures, and I’m always looking to discover new places to visit.

I’ve always been a number lover. My career in the financial services industry started after a long stint at Massey University, completing my Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance and Economics. I worked as a Lending Consultant for two years, then as Financial Adviser at AMP for three years before joining the Finsol team.
I also hold both Level 5 Financial Advice and Residential Lending Certificates.
My role at Finsol sees me heading up our growing home loan team, and guiding people from all walks of life through the mortgage process. It’s challenging at times, but I find it so rewarding helping people – especially first home buyers. As well as working on the advice side of the company, I’m one of the Owners/Directors of Finsol alongside Gareth.
I’m a busy Dad when I’m not at work and love spending as much time as possible with my wife and two young children. We enjoy getting out and about and travelling as much as possible – lately, we’ve been exploring some beautiful spots around the country when we get the chance.

After finishing school and enjoying a brief sojourn playing rugby league in Australia, I returned to New Zealand and completed an Honours Degree in Town Planning. I spent some time working in the South Island before going back to Australia and starting a career in mining, oil, and gas. After four years, it was time for a change, so I completed the Australian Financial Planning Diploma, initially for my own benefit to give myself to tools to succeed. One year after meeting Gareth, the timing was right, and I returned to the motherland and began my career at Finsol.
During my time at Finsol, I have obtained my Level 5 Certificate in Financial Services and Residential Lending qualifications.
People come to me with a problem – whether home loan or insurance-related – and I help them find smart solutions. I like empowering my clients and find it rewarding. I also enjoy bringing the designated laughs to our Finsol team Zoom calls.
Outside of work, I’m engaged and soon to be a father to a little girl – and I’m already Dad to Ziggy, our lively pup. I love leisure-fishing, diving, surfing, and staying connected with my local community through the Awanui Rugby Club and the Mahimaru Marae Trust.

I’ve studied accounting since I was 16 – in Sri Lanka, we pick our major at 16. I had my first taste in the sales industry while attending Massey University Majoring in Accounting, which led to an exciting sales career in 2011 with many years in the ventilation and heat pump industry.
After taking some time out to have my two beautiful children, I returned to the workforce as Adviser Support at Finsol. I support the lending team and our clients as they navigate the world of home loans. My husband is self-employed, so we had first-hand experience of how difficult it can be for sole traders and small-medium business owners to get a mortgage application approved. This experience stayed with me and has been pivotal in how I work with clients.
I really enjoy the challenges of working in the mortgage and insurance field. Seeing how the team at Finsol operate has really strengthened my interest in the industry, and I am thrilled to able to help people avoid the experience I had.
When I’m not working, I spend a lot of time with my family; we love getting out and enjoying bush walks, beaches and everything nature has to offer. We’re also fond of a weekend getaway.

I’ve long been a car lover, and I spent fifteen years in the automotive trade – including time spent in a race team in Australia – before making the change to financial services. I am in my first year as a financial adviser, having finished my Level 5 Studies in Residential Lending, and I’m working towards my other industry qualifications.
At Finsol, I work alongside Paul, helping Kiwis get into new homes. I love working with people to help them make plans around first home saving and purchasing; It’s super rewarding, and I’m enjoying progressing and learning as I go. I’ve found my customer service experience in the automotive industry to be invaluable when dealing with people from all walks of life at Finsol.
I have a beautiful wife and three amazing kids that keep me very busy and on my toes. I love to get outdoors, both with the family and on solo missions – on the weekend I’m often found hurtling downhill on my mountain bike, which I consider a great form of stress relief.

Originally from Rotorua, I grew up in Hamurana, and after leaving home, I spent eight years working various jobs overseas before returning home in 2013. Back in New Zealand, I worked as an Account Manager for an e-commerce group in Auckland, then most recently as a Senior Business Development Manager for a local telecommunications company. At the start of 2019, I embarked on my career in financial services.
At Finsol, I focus on life and health insurance, residential lending, KiwiSaver, and ACC advice. My goal is to provide unbiased, client-focused advice with a personal touch. I enjoy breaking down the stigma around talking about finances and debts and helping people to take action and create their own financial freedom.
When I’m not in the office, I like to go on adventures with my young family, help out on the farm, hover over BBQs, brew my own coffee, pluck fresh vegetables out of my garden, catch Koura in our stream, coach kids rugby, and light and sit around campfires. I love getting out there and exploring our beautiful country and the rest of the world.

At Finsol Wealth, we provide comprehensive, personalised KiwiSaver advice to help New Zealanders get ahead. Not enough Kiwis are making the most out of their KiwiSaver accounts. After completing my BCom Work majoring in Accounting and Finance from the University of Otago – and an exchange semester to the University of Economics in Prague – I spent three years in the Financial Assurance team at PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
During my time with PwC, I worked across a range of clients varying from large NZX listed Companies (Fonterra, Restaurant Brands, Freightways and Rakon) to smaller cap Companies in industries such as energy, e-commerce, manufacturing, fund management and engineering. More recently, I’ve had experience with Compound Wealth and Finsol working as an Authorised Financial Adviser, providing advice primarily on KiwiSaver.
I have a real passion for financial literacy and think everyone should make informed and educated decisions about their financial futures. KiwiSaver advice is free to receive, and I believe every New Zealander should be enrolled in the scheme, which is why I provide advice on KiwiSaver at Finsol.
Outside of work I try to get out and about as much as possible, whether going for a run, walk, water skiing, snow skiing, anything really! I also play football down here in Christchurch and have recently received my 50th appearance for the club.

I’ve worked in admin support for over twenty years, in both New Zealand and Australia, where I resided until 2017. I have a Diploma in Business Administration and have also completed the Strategi Compliance Officer Course. I’m starting the Level 5 Financial Services qualification in October to complement the work I do at Finsol.
Day to day, I’m the first point of contact for our clients. I assist the adviser team with the application process and policy maintenance, liaise with clients on policy and claim matters and our ACC CoverPlus Extra process, keep track of advice compliance, and manage accounts. It’s a busy, varied role, and it has been exciting to see Finsol grow in the time that I’ve been here.
I’m mum to my two darling daughters who keep me busy outside of work with their after-school activities. My husband and I really enjoy taking the girls away to see beautiful new places around New Zealand, and when we get a night off parenting, we enjoy live music.

I started my career many moons ago in the pharmacy industry and worked across the beauty/pharmacy sectors in sales and customer service roles for over ten years. I discovered my love of writing in 2007 when I started a beauty blog, and I went on to write for various beauty websites and magazines before starting my career as a freelance copywriter. After completing social media marketing training in 2016, I expanded my services and entered into the world of marketing. I contracted to Finsol for a few years before officially joining the team as Head of Marketing in 2020.
The team at Finsol make my job easy – they’re incredibly dedicated, inspired, and provide an exceptional level of service to their clients. They’re trailblazing their way through what has traditionally been perceived as a stuffy industry, and I delight in delivering the Finsol message in the ever-changing digital era.
I’m mum to a darling two-year-old girl who keeps me on my toes. Together with my partner, the three of us live in paradise out at Waimarama, surrounded by native flora and fauna. I’m an avid reader and usually have two or three books on the go. I also love playing the piano and have recently started learning some new songs after a 25-year hiatus.

I studied for three years for my Legal Executive Diploma while working full time, then briefly moved to Wellington and worked in law firms. I returned to the lovely Hawke’s Bay with my partner to purchase our first home.
I then spent a few years as a Personal Assistant before becoming self-employed as an Executive Assistant for some great local businesses. I later returned into the workforce after having my first child as an Executive Assistant for a local Civil Engineering/Project Management firm who provided me with a vast understanding of putting the client’s needs first, helping achieve a desirable outcome for the client, maintaining the never-ending supply of emails and meeting tight deadlines.
I’m the Office Manager at Finsol which entails obtaining and processing client information efficiently, follow-up phone calls for clients and businesses, organising and processing claims, and supporting and generally making life easier and more efficient for the team and clients Finsol.
Outside of work, I am a homebody who loves organising, and I’m kept busy with my young family. I enjoy getting out in the garden when the weather and time permits, attending concerts and making new friends.
