Financial Review

Independent mortgage and home loan advice for New Zealand home buyers, property investors and homeowners. Helping clients compare lending options, secure competitive rates and navigate the home loan process with confidence.

A Financial Review is a comprehensive assessment of your current financial position, goals and opportunities. We review your income, assets, debts, insurance, KiwiSaver and wealth-building strategy to identify areas for improvement.

Sit down with an experienced financial adviser who will help you gain clarity, make informed decisions and create a practical plan for achieving your financial goals.

What does a Financial Review cover?

Your finances don’t exist in isolation, so we don’t treat them that way. A Finsol financial review looks at every area that shapes your wealth today and your financial future tomorrow.

KiwiSaver and investments

It’s not just about being in the right fund. We help you understand how markets move, how to stay the course when things get volatile, and how your KiwiSaver and investment portfolio connect with everything else in your financial life. A good investment strategy doesn’t sit in isolation. It works hand in hand with your mortgage, your insurance, and your long-term goals.

Property and home loans

This goes well beyond your mortgage rate. We look at how your property is structured from a tax efficiency perspective, how your assets are protected, and whether the way you hold property today actually aligns with where you want to be in ten or twenty years. That includes your debt reduction strategy — making sure your lending is structured in a way that pays down debt efficiently while still giving you the flexibility to grow. A home loan is one piece of it. A smart, long-term property strategy is another thing entirely.

Life and health insurance

Do you have the right cover in place if something goes wrong? We review what you have, identify any gaps, and make sure your protection is proportionate to what you’ve built and what you stand to lose.

Budgeting and cash flow

Where is your money going, and where could it be going instead? We look at your income, your outgoings, and your surplus to find opportunities most people miss when they’re in the middle of it all.

Emergency funds

Short-term, high-liquidity, and deliberately separate from everything else. We help you get the right amount sitting in the right place so that when life throws something at you, your long-term plan doesn’t get derailed.

Digital assets

Crypto sits in a different category to most investments — speculative, volatile, and still evolving from a regulatory and tax perspective. If you hold digital assets, we factor them into your overall investment picture honestly and without judgment, making sure they’re considered alongside everything else rather than treated as an afterthought.

Financial Review process.

01

Let’s chat

It starts with a relaxed 60-minute conversation. We cover everything: your goals, your concerns, your timeline, and what you’ve already got in motion. To make the most of our time together, we’ll send you a short information gathering form beforehand. Nothing complicated — just enough to give us a head start so we can hit the ground running.

02

The full picture

After our initial conversation, we pull everything together into a detailed recap of where you currently stand. We look at what’s working, what could be working harder, and where the real opportunities are. This isn’t a generic summary — it’s a clear, honest assessment of your specific situation with practical suggestions on how to improve it.

03

Your priorities

We present our findings and recommendations, and then the ball is in your court. You decide which areas you want to explore further and where you’d like us to get involved. There’s no pressure to act on everything at once. Some clients focus on one area first. Others want to move on several fronts. Either way, you’re in the driver’s seat.

04

Making it happen

Once you’re ready to move forward, we get things moving. This might mean optimising what you already have, putting new financial structures in place, or working alongside your accountant or lawyer to make sure everything is set up in the most tax-efficient and legally sound way possible. We don’t operate in isolation — we collaborate with the right professionals to get you the best outcome.

05

The ongoing journey

This is where most financial advisers stop. We’re just getting started. We review regularly, stay in close contact, and provide ongoing support as your life and goals evolve. Markets change. Life changes. Your plan needs to keep up. We’re not here to set and forget. We’re here for the long haul — because building real wealth isn’t a transaction, it’s a journey we’re on together.

FAQs

Anyone who wants to get ahead financially and plan for a secure future can benefit from a financial review. If you’re unsure whether your current strategy is on track and want peace of mind about your financial decisions, a review with a Finsol adviser can help you identify opportunities, manage risks, and make a clear plan for your goals.

It’s a full 360° financial review covering all key areas of wealth building and protection: life and health insurance, property, home loans, investments, KiwiSaver, pensions, superannuation, and even digital assets.

Your initial consultation is provided at no cost.

In many cases, further advice is provided at no direct cost to you, as we are remunerated by product providers.

Where personalised financial advice or strategy is required and does not result in provider remuneration, a fee of $250 + GST per hour will apply. We will provide an estimate of the time required, typically expressed as a range, and confirm the total expected cost before any work begins.

All of our advisers are fully qualified and trained to review your complete financial situation. By taking a holistic approach, we can identify areas where your finances could be improved, helping you make informed decisions and strengthen your overall financial wellbeing.

Not at all. Financial advice is for anyone who wants to feel more confident and in control of their money. Whether you’re just starting out, growing a family, building a business, or planning for retirement, we can help you make smarter decisions at every stage of life.

The first meeting is all about you. We’ll take the time to understand your goals, where you’re at now, and what you’d like to achieve. It’s a relaxed conversation where we ask the right questions, listen carefully, and gather the key details we need to give you tailored advice. You’ll walk away with more clarity and a plan that makes sense for your next step.

We get to work. First, we analyse your goals, current investments, and wealth structures. Then we start optimising every part of your financial plan to align with your future aspirations. Our job is to help you build wealth your way, at your pace, and in a way that feels right to you. No two plans are the same. This one is built for you.
